As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. BigQuery Search provides high-performance search and analytics for structured and semi-structured data at petabyte scale, with a primary focus on powering mission-critical security log analysis and observability workloads. Traditional real-time search solutions often struggle to scale effectively; BigQuery Search addresses these challenges by offering a managed indexing subsystem integrated directly within BigQuery. We are deeply committed to making search on BigQuery data more performant and cost-effective through continuous architectural innovation. Our engineering efforts focus on optimizing indexing freshness and reducing operational costs by aligning indexing with base table storage optimizations. These advancements result in massive reductions in slot usage and scanned data, enabling customers to run high-concurrency investigations with industry-leading price-performance. With an ambitious roadmap, we are building a sophisticated search platform designed for the Agentic AI era.
