The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper & world-shaper. ### Role Summary The Power System Supervisor oversees the maintenance and operation of the NERC registered Bulk Electric System (BES), Rectifier Station, plant high voltage systems, and Long Sault/Alcoa Utilities (Water Systems). The role provides technical leadership for rectifier stations and high‑voltage substations, ensures reliable 24/7 power delivery, and supports all planned and emergency maintenance activities in coordination with the Power System Controller & Power System Planner. The supervisor will lead a multi-trade team of approximately 10 to 14 employees and coordinate contractors and technical support resources as required. This position is also responsible for maintaining compliance with corporate and OSHA electrical safety standards and for supporting safety assessments and standards development. ### Key Responsibilities Supervise maintenance and operations of Bulk Electric System (BES), Rectifier Station, plant high voltage systems, and Long Sault/Alcoa Utilities (water system). Maintain 99% equipment and operational reliability. Provide technical direction for high‑voltage equipment maintenance; maintain expertise in new equipment and systems. Support training initiatives to improve reliability of potline and plant power systems. Must be available on a 24-hour 7-day per week basis to respond to system outages and support recovery. Function as Lead Outage Liaison. Maintain open line of communication with his/her counterparts within organization and enhance these practices to foster better collaboration between hourly and salaried teams. Serve as backup to the Power System Controller as needed. Oversee resources in compliance with EHS polices and prioritizes safety, while supporting initiatives such as Behavior-Based Safety, audits, Safety Council activities, and Safety Advisors. Serve as decision maker/SPA for such items as planned maintenance priorities, special transmission and distribution projects, special high voltage upgrade projects, process improvements, and crew scheduling. Provide day-to-day leadership to a multi-trade team that includes electricians, mechanics, technicians, apprentices, and contract resources supporting the plant’s electrical distribution and water utility systems. Coordinate specialized contractors and external resources supporting maintenance, repairs, capital projects, and utility-related work. Required Technical Knowledge High-voltage power systems, electrical distribution systems, rectifier stations, and industrial plant power systems. Bulk Electric System operations, including BES one-line diagrams and associated power flow. Operation, coordination, maintenance, and reliability requirements for power delivery systems. Electrical safety standards, including Alcoa Electrical Safety Standards. OSHA electrical regulations, including 29 CFR 1910.269. Power-system maintenance planning, outage coordination, and emergency system recovery. Spare-parts management and electrical equipment supply requirements. Technical training requirements related to power-system safety, operation, and maintenance. Working knowledge of water utility systems and their interaction with plant utility operations. ### Qualifications Minimum of five years of relevant experience in high-voltage power systems, electrical distribution, rectifier stations, plant power systems, or a closely related environment. Demonstrated high-voltage system experience is required. Relevant electrical training, trade qualifications, technical education, or equivalent high-voltage experience will be considered. Demonstrated technical leadership in power-system operations and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to lead employees, achieve results, manage changing priorities, and drive continuous improvement. Ability to apply a strong electrical foundation while learning the site’s unique power-distribution, rectifier, and water utility systems. Direct supervision or crew-leadership experience is preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver technical or safety-related training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as applicable scheduling tools. ### Base Salary 76,700 - 115,400 USD annually Total rewards packages listed, including base salary and bonus eligibility, applies to US based applicants only. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package.
